What is a digital badge?

A digital badge is a modern and visual way of recognizing non-accredited skills beyond formal education.

It creates a digital footprint of the user's accomplishments, skills and means of achievement. It can also be uploaded and shared across multiple online platforms.

At Region of Learning we offer providers and employers the opportunity to write digital badges according to the RSA open badge standard, which is endorsed by City and Guilds. This standard allows learning and achievements to be written against a nationally recognised learning spine and quality assured by experts.

We also offer providers and employers the chance to create their own short prompts and witness captivating descriptions, well-defined criteria, and perfectly aligned labour market tags for a personalised badge identity using A.I Badge Assistant features on the Navigatr platform. This allows providers and employers to manage their own badge content and endorsements.

What is a skills taxonomy?

Each badge tells a story of expertise and dedication. Hiring the right talent is a challenge every organisation faces. But with digital badges, you can quickly and visually assess an applicant's qualifications. No more guessing games – you'll have a comprehensive view of their skills at a glance.

We pride ourselves in ensuring that all our digital badges are speaking the same skills language. This allows learners to fully understand the needs of local employers. We work with Lightcast Skills, an advanced labour market analytical tool providing insight into the real-world job market and industry trends.

What is a pathway?

When badges are earned and connected, they form "Pathways" – typically a badge map culminating in a meta badge, signifying program or employment opportunities for successful applicants.

Pathways help people progress through the steps needed to reach a goal- whether career-related or for personal well-being.

Where can you manage, store and share digital badges?

We work in partnership with Badge Nation, a leading organisation for digital badging in the UK, who can manage and publish your badges on a platform of your choosing.

We also work in partnership with Navigatr, a leading badge issuing platform for pathways, a live jobs feed and cutting-edge features in A.I and labour market analytics.
