About Us

Region of Learning is a place-based mission aiming to recognise and connect all types of learning, skills and attributes outside of formal education to improve outcomes for people and the place they live in.

At Region of Learning, we aim to transform skills recognition beyond formal education. We do this with digital badges and pathways, boosting learning and employability.

Partnering with local learning and training providersemployers and businesses, we create a strong skills ecosystem connecting young people to local opportunities.

Our badges and pathways validate a range of skills, empowering learners and career seekers to highlight their diverse experiences, and bridging the gap for growth and success.

Our Vision

Our vision for the Region of Learning is to be a beacon of excellence and opportunity.

We aim to create a vibrant, skills-based ecosystem where individuals are empowered to reach their goals and actively contribute to shaping a prosperous future for their communities.

Cities of Learning

The Cities of Learning of the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), rooted in a history of promoting innovation and social progress, seeks to bridge the education-industry divide. aims to make learning visible, discoverable, measurable, sharable and connected.

Region of Learning, a leader in this initiative, leverages the Cities of Learning model to connect youth with local learning, well-being, and career prospects, nurturing skills, confidence, and aspirations.

Initially successful in Brighton and Plymouth, UK, this initiative now transforms communities into hubs for practical learning and skill development.

“Cities of Learning works with employers, educators, policy makers and learners to agree shared learning priorities for their town, city, or region and to recognise those skills through digital badges.”
